The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser
Twilio (TWLO)
Twilio (TWLO) may have pulled off a decent +9.38% this week, earning itself the spot of the Week’s Biggest Winner, it’s also worth noting that with a year-end performance of -81.40%, it’s the Year’s Third Biggest Loser. Personally, I’d rather have that reversed if it were my company. Yikes.
Dutch Bros (BROS)
Dutch Bros (BROS) got hit particularly hard this week, for some reason. I’m still not entirely sure why it dropped -6.19% and earned itself the spot of the Week’s Biggest Loser, but there you have it.

The “Baskets”
The Investments in Play portfolio contains a number of groups of stocks called “baskets.” I use baskets when I want exposure to a certain sector, but I want to use more than one stock to get that exposure without giving each individual stock an allocation.
In this portfolio, there is the Financials Basket which includes stocks that provide the portfolio with exposure to the financial sector which includes money-center banks, credit card companies, and investment management firms.
The Pets Basket includes the two leaders in pet health, long-time holding IDEXX Labs (IDXX) and newcomer Zoetis (ZTS). Both are considered “Best-in-Breed” (pun intended) for different reasons which is why I’m holding both of them instead of just picking one or over the other.
Additionally, there are two speculative baskets in the portfolio: Old-Spec and New-Spec.
Companies in the Old-Spec basket are ones with long track records where I want to have some exposure in the portfolio but I’m not confident enough to give each a full allocation.
New-Spec companies are typically stocks either new on the scene or representing a fairly new approach or sector, where, like Old-Spec, I want exposure but I don’t want a full allocation of any individual company.

This Week’s Moves
Nike (NKE): Dividend Reinvestment
There’s a reason that Nike (NKE) is one of the oldest positions in this portfolio. Not only does the company consistently outperform even in the worst economic conditions, its dividend is a nice little kicker on the side. NKE paid out its quarterly dividend on Thursday, which, after reinvestment, raised my per-share “cost” +0.30% from -$6.70 to -$6.68 (a negative per-share cost indicates all capital has been removed in addition to $6.68 per share added to the portfolio’s bottom line in addition to each share’s current value).
The reason my per-share cost was “raised” is because the reinvestment adds more shares. So, even though I have a more significant amount of profit in the position thanks to the dividend, that profit is divided by the extra shares the dividend adds. Either way, I do love my dividends.
SoFi Technologies (SOFI): Added to Position
SoFi Technologies (SOFI) dipped below $4.30 on Wednesday as it approached its 2022 all-time low, triggering my next buy order which filled at $4.28. The small buy lowered my per-share cost -2.08% from $4.80 to $4.70.
From here, my next buy target is around $3.25, a price calculated using the Fibonacci Retracement method, and my next sell target is $5.70, under SOFI’s 150-Day Moving Average and a past point of resistance.
SOFI closed the week at $4.61, up +7.71% from where I added Wednesday.
