The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Tradeweb Markets (TW)

Tradeweb Markets (TW) once again plays its contrarian drum and manages to squeak out a win in a pretty miserable week for speculative plays. TW popped +2.07% which was enough to land the spot of the Week’s Biggest Winner.

GrowGeneration (GRWG)

GrowGeneration (GRWG) just score a hat trick… for the wrong team! For three weeks running, GRWG has been the worst performer of the portfolio, aided this week when walking cartoon character, Mitch McConnell, completely denied passage of the SAFE Banking Act which would have been a huge step toward Federal legalization of cannabis. With hopes dashed, GRWG dropped another -14.14% to earn the dubious honor of being the Week’s Biggest Loser three weeks consecutively. Ick.

This Week’s Moves

Happy Holidays, everybody!

While the week saw plenty of action for my Investments in Play and Pandemic Portfolios, there was nothing doing in the Speculation in Play portfolio as all of the positions essentially took the week off by trading in a range between my buy and sell targets.

As always, the important thing to remember is to “never trade a dull market.” In other words, no matter how boring the price action, don’t try to force a trade when there is none there, and that was the case here.

Now, the week has finally ended and we head into a three-day holiday where there will be no talk of stocks or markets. Enjoy yourself and your families, and I wish you all the happiest and safest holiday season!
