The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Pinterest (PINS)

Pinterest (PINS) brought its A-game as one of the social network underdogs this week, locking in a solid +10.03% weekly gain and earning itself the spot of the Week’s Biggest Winner.

Virgin Galactic (SPCE)

After Cathie Wood’s ARK investment space ETF was a whiffer (seriously, among its many unrelated space choices it had John Deere (DE) and Netflix (NFLX) in it… what the heck???), Virgin Galactic (SPCE) seemed to get punished for ARK’s confusion over what space is.

SPCE lost -4.78% on the week, earning itself the spot of the Week’s Biggest Loser.

What is the Recovery Speculation Basket?

The Recovery Speculation Basket (“Recovery Spec”) represents stocks that will thrive if vaccines are released quickly and we return to normal but have the likelihood of collapsing if more lockdowns occur. These positions are too speculative to have their own allocation and share a single allocation.

Currently, my Recovery Spec stocks are as follows: the Airlines Exchange Traded Fund (JETS) and Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL). They are listed as a single allocation in the portfolio breakdown chart each week.

This Week’s Moves

No Moves This Week!

I know, I know. I said I’d be more aggressive this year and it almost looks I’m being less aggressive, but given the frothy conditions of the market and how all the highest-flying names are crashing to Earth, I’m sitting on my hands.

Renowned long-term investor Warren Buffett of Berkshire-Hathaway (BRK) likes to say, “there are no called strikes in the stock market.” In other words, you don’t need to take a swing until the pitch is perfect.

Well, my style certainly isn’t waiting for perfection, but there’s no need to add to any of my positions until they come to levels that are more palpable.

Here are my buying price targets for the portfolio:

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD): $65.15
Airlines ETF (JETS): $21.80
Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL): $23.80
Draft Kings (DKNG): $50.15
General Electric (GE): $5.55
Grow Generation (GRWG): $33.15
Pinterest (PINS): $45.75
Palantir (PLTR): $20.55
Tradeweb Markets (TW): $54.25
Uranium ETF (URA): $18.80
Virgin Galactic (SPCE): $20.65
Yeti (YETI): $43.85

If any of my positions drop to those levels, I’ll add. Otherwise, this kind of market is one where you just grab the popcorn and watch the stories tell themselves.
