What is the Recovery Speculation Basket?

The Recovery Speculation Basket (“Recovery Spec”) represents stocks that will thrive if vaccines are released quickly and we return to normal but have the likelihood of collapsing if more lockdowns occur. These positions are too speculative to have their own allocation and share a single allocation.

Currently, my Recovery Spec stocks are as follows: the Airlines Exchange Traded Fund (JETS) and Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL). They are listed as a single allocation in the portfolio breakdown chart each week.

This Week’s Moves

Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL): Added to Position

To kick off 2021, I decided to get more aggressive with all of my speculative positions, so when Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) sold off more than 5% on Monday, I added back in, buying at $20.20.

The order replaces half of the shares I sold at $21.09 back on June 16, 2020, locking in a minor -4.22% gain, however, the buy increases my allocation as I believe CCL will come back later this year thanks to vaccines and the economic reopening planned. The buy also added some capital back into the position giving me a per-share cost of $4.30.

From here, my next buy target is $16.20 and my next sell target is around $33.00.

CCL closed the week at $20.47, up +1.34% from where I added Monday.
