The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser
Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL)
For the last week of the year, Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) locks in the win with a gain of +3.93%, making it our Week’s Biggest Winner.
Virgin Galactic (SPCE)
Somehow fitting that a very different kind of cruise-line should be the Week’s Biggest Loser on the same week CCL wins it – Virgin Galactic (SPCE) dropped -8.20% to become the Week’s Biggest Loser.
The Year’s Biggest Winner & Loser
Grow Generation (GRWG)
Without question, Grow Generation (GRWG) is the Year’s Biggest Winner with an astounding +869.16% gain, besting second-in-line Pinterest’s (PINS) +253.54% YTD gain by nearly quadruple! Crazy!
Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL)
The reason I got into this position to begin with – Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) was positively decimated by Covid-19. Even while making a pretty remarkable comeback from its March lows, CCL is still down a devastating -57.39% for the year!

Recovery Speculation Basket

CCLWhat is the Recovery Speculation Basket?
The Recovery Speculation Basket (“Recovery Spec”) represents stocks that will thrive if vaccines are released quickly and we return to normal but have the likelihood of collapsing if more lockdowns occur. These positions are too speculative to have their own allocation and share a single allocation.
Currently, my Recovery Spec stocks are as follows: the Airlines Exchange Traded Fund (JETS) and Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL). They are listed as a single allocation in the portfolio breakdown chart each week.
This Week’s Moves
Strategy Update: Let’s get aggressive in 2021
Whenever I have a week with no trades, I like to review my current strategies to see if I want to make any changes. For 2021, I have decided to get more aggressive with my speculative portfolio.
Taking chances paid off in spades for the Speculation in Play portfolio this year, closing out the year with a whopping +53.75% gain.
That’s more than 10% over the more conservative Investments in Play portfolio and an outstanding +37.49% improvement over the S&P 500’s “measly” +16.26%.
Although that’s actually an outstanding performance for the index, historically.
In 2021, while I expect we’ll see some volatility, unless there’s another Black Swan Event like the coronavirus, I don’t think 2021 will look anything as crazy as 2020. Accordingly, I have raised the price targets for my positions and even have at least one new one I’m eyeing to add to the portfolio.
Typically, I don’t keep a public Shopping List for my speculative positions since I change the figures rapidly and sometimes will use intraday pricing to do so. Plus, as always, all information provided on GetIrked.com is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
With that being said, here are my current price targets where I’ll start adding more to my existing positions and open a new one (marked with an asterisk):
Airlines ETF (JETS): $19.95
AMD (AMD): $84.70
Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL): $20.20
Chevron (CVX): $68.90
General Electric (GE): $5.53
Grow Generation (GRWG): $24.90
Pinterest (PINS): $42.90
Palantir (PLTR)*: $21.40
Plug Power (PLUG): $26.70
Tradeweb Markets (TW): $57.90
Twitter (TWTR): $42.70
Virgin Galactic (SPCE): $21.60
Yeti (YETI): $48.90
I hope you’ve enjoyed following along with my portfolio moves over the years. I look forward to sharing the experience again with everyone in 2021!
