The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser
Virgin Galactic (SPCE)
After getting not one but two analyst upgrades, it was nowhere but up for Virgin Galactic (SPCE) this week as the super-speculative consumer spaceflight play skyrocketed 26.42% to land as this week’s Biggest Winner, by far.
Chevron (CVX)
In a week with a lot of negative catalysts and a significant amount of volatility, it’s telling that the “worst-performing” position in my portfolio, Chevron (CVX), only dropped -0.89% as the Biggest Loser.

What is the Super-Speculative Basket?
The Super Speculative Basket (“Super-Spec”) is made up of a handful of stocks so incredibly volatile that I’m uncomfortable giving any of them full allocations even in my Speculation in Play portfolio, instead dividing a single allocation among all of them.
Currently, my Super-Spec stocks are as follows: the Airlines ETF (JETS), Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL), and Virgin Galactic (SPCE). They are listed as a single allocation in the portfolio breakdown chart each week.
This Week’s Moves
No Moves This Week: Strategy Adjustments
Whenever the market doesn’t move enough one way or another to trigger a buy or sell in my speculative portfolio, I take some time to reevaluate each of my positions to determine if they’re still what I’m looking for and if I want to adjust buy or sell price targets.
This week was one of those weeks, and I decided that I was far too conservative with my buy price targets for the many of the positions in the portfolio. In the cases where I felt getting aggressive might be too risky, I reduced the quantity to ensure that I’m protecting against the downside.
I also continue to eye Grow Generation (GRWG) as a play on the consumer cannabis space, but it’s holding up remarkably strong in the face of a sector that seems to be getting slammed everywhere else.
I guess we’ll see what happens next week…
