The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Pinterest (PINS)

Pinterest (PINS) once again received credit for being everyone’s friendly neighborhood social media network this week, seeing a pop of +11.57% and beating the rest of the portfolio to earn the week’s biggest winner.

Tradeweb Markets (TW)

Since its IPO just last year, Tradeweb Markets (TW) has performed exceptionally well, particularly in downturns, so I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there was finally some profit-taking this week. The stock dropped -2.17% to earn the spot of the week’s Biggest Loser in a week that saw the rest of the portfolio rise.

What is the Super-Speculative Basket?

The Super Speculative Basket (“Super-Spec”) is made up of a handful of stocks so incredibly volatile that I’m uncomfortable giving any of them full allocations in my portfolio, instead dividing a single allocation among all of them.

Currently, my Super-Spec stocks are as follows: the Airlines ETF (JETS), Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL), and Virgin Galactic (SPCE). They are listed as a single allocation in the portfolio breakdown chart each week.

This Week’s Moves

Pinterest (PINS): Profit-Taking

When the market rocketed higher into the opening on Friday following the better-than-expected jobs report, I decided it was time to quit pushing my luck in Pinterest (PINS) lest it get painted with the “social media brush” and pulled my capital investment out with an order which filled at $24.07.

The sale took +84.87% in gains on the remainder of the shares I bought at $15.88 back on March 10 and reduced my per-share cost to -$0.24 (meaning each share still in the portfolio adds $0.24 in profit and costs nothing).

My next sell target is near Pinterest’s all-time high of $36.35 (for the moment and my next buy target is $13.90.

PINS closed the week at $24.11, up +0.17% from where I sold Friday.
