The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Danimer Scientific (DNMR)

Danimer Scientific (DNMR) actually closed out 2023 by pulling out a win this week, popping +8.43% and landing the spot of the Week’s Biggest Winner. However, that win is bittersweet as it’s completely overshadowed by a year-end performance of a devastating -78.87% loss, making Danimer the BIGGEST LOSER OF THE YEAR for the entire portfolio! YOWTCH!

GrowGeneration (GRWG)

The disappointment over Congress’s inability to pass the SAFE Banking Act for recreational cannabis retailers in the U.S. continues to weigh on the entire sector. GrowGeneration (GRWG) brings up the rear this week, with its -7.53% loss landing it smack in the middle of the spot for Week’s Biggest Loser.

This Week’s Moves

Well, at least THAT’S over…

What a year 2022 was for stocks – just awful. In fact, across the board in every index, 2022 was the worst year since 2008, and it certainly felt that way!

Over in Get Irked, the weirdest standout was that the Speculation in Play portfolio, obviously the more risk-oriented portfolio, actually outperformed the Investments in Play portfolio.

The only way I figure that happened was maybe the majority of the stinkers in the Spec portfolio got smacked toward the end of 2021 and didn’t have as far to fall as some of the more “reliable” stocks in the Investments portfolio.

Regardless, 2022 was a bad year for pretty much everything. To be honest, I don’t see much reason to get excited for 2023, either. I think it could be heavy-sledding for at least the first quarter or two. Maybe we’ll see some relief later in the year, but don’t get too ambitious… sentiment remains awful.

For more details, I’ve put added my video where I give my 2023 outlook including headwinds and potential positive catalysts down below.

Let me wish you and yours a very Happy New Year! I’ll see you here next year!
