The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Las Vegas Sands (LVS)

It always strikes me as ironic that the majority, and I mean the vast majority, of Las Vegas Sands’ (LVS) business doesn’t come from Las Vegas at all, but, instead comes from China.

As a result, when rumors started swirling that China’s planning to reopen, any casino with Chinese exposure took off, causing Las Vegas Sands to pop +8.47% in a pretty dismal week and landing the top spot as the Week’s Biggest Winner.

DraftKings (DKNG)

DraftKings (DKNG) was looking like the “comeback kid” over the past few months with positive news catalysts, potential partnerships, and more.

But, then came earnings season…

DraftKings disappointed with particularly weak forward guidance, causing the stock to plummet -25.20% on the week, a total nausea-inducing 84.79%  drop from its all-time high set a year and a half ago.

Definitely the Week’s Biggest Loser, but, believe it or not, the Loser over in this week’s Investments in Play portfolio was even worse.

This Week’s Moves

The MOST Important Trait for Investors…

Once again, nothing happened this week for the Speculation in Play portfolio. Crazy, right? There was so much volatility in this stock-picker’s market, yet, still, none of my positions reached their buy or sell targets.

This week was just one big shrug-muffin as I watched some, like the Airlines ETF (JETS) and Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) get so close to my profit-taking targets and not hit them, with others like DraftKings (DKNG) making a dive toward my next buy target but not quite get there.

Having patience can be a pain in the neck, but it’s often an investor’s (or trader’s) best friend when it comes to the stock market.
