The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Golden Minerals (AUMN)

Penny stocks are strange things. Since they’re so small in terms of both market capitalization and share price, they can be moved around … a lot… very easily. That happened this week with Golden Minerals (AUMN), my super-high risk, penny-stock, gold mine, as it finished a week that decimated everything UP +4.35%, definitely snagging the spot of the Week’s Biggest Winner.

DraftKings (DKNG)

Nearly everything got destroyed this week, but DraftKings (DKNG) took the bigger hit due to it being high-flying over the past several weeks and its exposure to a sector that gets hit hard during recessions – gambling. DKNG lost -19.46% this week alone, landing in as the Biggest Loser of the entire portfolio.

This Week’s Moves

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD): Added to Position

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) finally lost support on Thursday following Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s overwhelmingly bearish comments during Wednesday’s press conference.

AMD triggered my next buy order which filled Thursday morning at $72.50, locking in a -29.94% discount on shares I sold for $103.48 less than two months ago on August 4, and raising my per-share “cost” to -$30.00 (a negative per-share cost indicates all capital has been removed in addition to $30.00 per share added to the portfolio’s bottom line in addition to each share’s current value).

From here, my next buy target is way down near AMD’s pandemic bottom at $36.90 and my next sell target is near AMD’s all-time of $164.46.

AMD closed the week at $67.95, down -6.28% from where I added Thursday.

Virgin Galactic (SPCE): Added to Position

The selling pressure became too much this week for speculative stocks like Virgin Galactic (SPCE), which finally tested its 2022 lows and filled my next buy order at $5.14 on Tuesday.

The buy locks in an absolutely insane -91.32% discount replacing some of the shares I sold for $55.74 back on June 25, 2021 (man, how far we’ve fallen, eh, Virgin?) and raised my per-share “cost” +$1.20 from -$5.65 to -$4.45 (a negative per-share cost indicates all capital has been removed in addition to $4.45 per share added to the portfolio’s bottom line in addition to each share’s current value).

From here, my next buy price target is slightly above $4.00, another psychological level of support, and my next sell target is $19.55, below a past point resistance.

SPCE closed the week at $4.88, down -5.06% from where I added Tuesday.

Zillow (Z): Added to Position

Having missed its 2022 bottom back in June, I had raised my buy target for Zillow (Z) to catch it if it tried to hit it again, and try again Z did on Friday, filling my buy order at $29.10.

The buy lowered my per-share cost -11.55% from $54.10 to $47.85. From here, my next buy target is near Zillow’s pandemic bottom at $20.10, and my next sell target is just under 2022’s high at $63.90.

Z closed the week at $29.52, up +1.44% from where I added Friday.
