The Week’s Biggest Winner & Loser

Berkshire-Hathaway (BRK.B)

Boy, it’s a terrible week when the biggest winner only popped +0.41%, isn’t it? Whew. So, yeah, Berkshire-Hathaway (BRK.B) announced a multi-billion dollar stake in computer manufacturer HP, and, for some reason, the market loved the news causing both HP and Berkshire to pop, so, yay, BRK.B is the Week’s Biggest Winner in a terrible, terrible week. Woo.

Rivian (RIVN)

Once the Federal Reserve came out as the most hawkish Fed seen since, well, inflation-destroyer Volker in the 1980’s, the entire market collapsed with a specific focus on the highest-risk stocks. They don’t come higher-risk than the Electric Vehicle (EV) stocks and, in that sector, Rivian (RIVN) is one of the riskiest. RIVN dropped -16.60% (down -62.65% YTD!), easily landing in as the Week’s Biggest Loser.

Year-to-Date Performance

The Speculative Basket

The Speculative Basket is made up of 11 positions that cumulatively share two target allocations. While I have more faith in these positions than those in my Speculation in Play portfolio (why they’re in this portfolio), I don’t want a full allocation to any of them.

The current basket members are: Amazon (AMZN), Berkshire-Hathaway (BRK.B), Coinbase (COIN), Dutch Bros (BROS), Meta (FB), Rivian (RIVN), Roblox (RBLX), Salesforce (CRM), Skyworks Solutions (SWKS), Take Two Interactive (TTWO), and Twilio (TWLO).

A negative share price indicates the dollar amount of profit for each share currently held.

This Week’s Moves

… and then there were three!

Yes, that’s right, this is the third week in a row with no moves in the Investments in Play portfolio. Now, the other two compatriots – Speculation in Play and Pandemic Portfolio – have both been seeing action, but there’s nothing happening for the Investments in Play portfolio.

And, like I’ve said before, that’s fine. That’s how it is. The worst thing an investor (or trader) can do is force something that isn’t there. However, I must admit that it definitely makes for some unexciting updates.

Oh, and, yes, I’m still kicking myself over raising my sell target on Apple (AAPL) and missing my opportunity to take profits as AAPL dropped another -2.42% this week. {insert self-faceslap here… sigh}
