If you’re new to investing in the stock market or even if you’ve been around awhile, you may be looking for a way to research the different stocks you’re interested in trading.

Up until Q1-2018, Get Irked would recommend Google Finance. That was before… the “redesign.” After more than a decade of not regularly using Yahoo in any form, Google’s “redesigned” Finance platform sent Get Irked and hundreds (if not thousands) of other traders over to Yahoo Finance.

Yahoo Finance offers users an incredible platform of completely free tools including:

  • Watchlists
  • Portfolio Managers (including integrated trading with your broker)
  • Stock Screeners
  • A wealth of historical data
  • Stock quotes
  • Stock analysis including EPS, P/E ratios, Beta, price ranges, volume and anything else you’d want
  • … and much, much more!

Why not Google Finance?

Starting in November 2017, Google posted a warning (they called it an “update”) that the Portfolio Manager and many other features of Google Finance would be removed when they implemented a planned redesign in the first quarter of 2018.

Everyone, including Get Irked, assumed the redesign would offer a better alternative to many of the features Google was removing.

We were wrong. We were all wrong.

Rather than adding new versions of existing features, Google killed them all, choosing instead to integrate their Finance platform more closely with their search engine.

Although Google kept watchlists, gone are the portfolios, interactive charts, and a myriad of other features that made Google Finance the platform-of-choice.

Get Irked left the day the redesign went live… for Yahoo. Yahoo, for crying out loud!

Anyway, once again we must thank the Internet gods for competition because Yahoo Finance is a viable alternative for users of the old Google Finance, and it’s the free platform Get Irked recommends for investors and traders of all experience levels.

Don't get mad, Get Irked and learn how to invest for yourself!
